American Media announced the acquisition of Adventure Sports Network (ASN), the owner of Surfer Magazine.

The American publisher founded in 1936 purchased 14 adventure and sports titles from The Enthusiast Network (TEN).

The deal also includes the management of the Dew Tour, a skate and snow extreme sports tournament.

American Media will now control the following brands: Surfer, Snowboarder, SUP Magazine, Transworld Skateboarding, Transworld Snowboarding, Transworld BMX, Transworld Motocross, Bike, Canoe & Kayak, Powder, Newschoolers, and Adventure Sports Network.

Surfer Magazine was founded by John Severson in 1962 and has changed ownership and management several times throughout its history.

The magazine titles owned by American Media have a combined total circulation of more than 5.7 million and reach around 49.4 million men and women every month.

American Media plans to merge and increase synergies between the ASN brands and the recently acquired Men's Journal. The group's combined social media fans and followers will increase to 35 million.

TEN will now focus its resources exclusively on automotive titles.
