World Press Photo 2008

The Portuguese photographer and photojournalist Miguel Lopes Barreira (Record newspaper) achieved third place in World Press Photo's best shots in the Sports Action category.

Barreira's photo shows Jaime Jesus, a Portuguese bodyboarder, in a middle of an aerial move surrounded by white water.

The shot was taken at Praia do Norte, Nazaré, a Portuguese coastal town known for its world-class tubular waves.

The photojournalist got the moment on December 16 during a Portuguese Bodyboarding Championship.
